NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION & CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The conservation and management of biodiversity is crucial for achieving poverty reduction and sustainable development (Millennium Ecosystem Assessment 2005). India is biodiversity-rich nation that supports 18% of the world’s population with only 2.4% of the world’s total land area. Remarkably, it is a part of four global biodiversity hotspots that have high concentrations of endemic taxa and some of the biggest remaining wild populations of large, wide-ranging mammals.
